Updating WordPress, Plugins & Themes

If you have a service agreement with us as part of your hosting then please don’t perform updates to WordPress or any plugins as we will perform this for each month. If you have chosen to manage this yourself then follow the steps below.

Backup Your Site

Prior to making any changes we strongly recommend you backup your website either using your host or the Duplicator Plugin. This will mean you can restore your website if the updates cause problems.

Update WordPress Core

1. Login to your WordPress admin area
2. Select Dashboard
3. Click Updates to check if any are available

4. Click Update Now, if it displays

Update Plugins

1. Login to your WordPress admin area
2. Click Plugins
3. Select all plugins with an update available
4. From the Bulk Actions dropdown, select Update
5. Click Apply

NOTE: Some premium plugins may not show updates from the WordPress dashboard. Be sure to check with the plugin author.

Update Theme

1. Login to your WordPress admin area
2. Click Themes
3. Select all themes with an update available
4. From the Bulk Actions dropdown, select Update
5. Click Apply
